Forum,

Recently at one our CCFPA (Central Coast Fire Protection Association)
meetings, a CPVC manufacturer representative indicated to the attending Fire
Chiefs (AHJ's) that the one step cement will weaken the pipe and fitting
surfaces.

The day after this meeting, at one our residential projects, we were told by
an inspector that the residual CPVC cement that was left on the surface of
the pipe and fittings was not acceptable and we were told to remove the
affected pipe and fittings.

This residual cement was from gloves or hands or inadvertent contact from
the cement dauber during the course of install.

How can incidental surface contact with the cement be that severe to
necessitate removal?

Has anyone encountered this?

We will be seeking a formal interpretation from the manufacturer so that we
can submit to the AHJ.

Thanks,
Ed Cyr
