In terms of codes and standards, there's no reason the floor controls can't be in the mechanical room. But I'd run it by all the AHJ's first.

The building is a three story with manual wet Class 1 standpipes. The mechanical rooms are stacked on all three floors. Is it acceptable to locate the floor control valves to be located in the mechanical rooms rather than on the standpipes in the remote stairwells? Aren't floor control valves for maintenance rather than fire dept. use? Joe C. Powell Pruett Ford & Associates, Inc.
