It's important to remember that the reason these heads operate so easily is
to prevent some inmate from hanging themselves. The link is required to
break I believe with less than 10#'s pressure. (Been a while, could be just
"Miss-remembering') No matter what our opinions of the state of the criminal
justice system, this is what is required.

I have known of one sheriff's dept that allowed sprinklers to run for no
less than 2 hours, if the inmates activated it. Picture the sole hiding
behind his mattress in a corner, soaked to the bone, before they shut it
off.

Subject: RE: Institutional Sprinklers

Tyco has a new institutional sprinkler that is coming on line right now
for later-this-year release, I belive. They showed it at the NFPA show
in early June and the thing that makes it especially useful in detention
cells is that the escutcheon is of a "locked-in" design. The sprinkler
can't be hit or picked at nearly as easily as others.

Subject: Institutional Sprinklers

Problem; we have some institutional sprinklers in a holding cell at a
local
jail that repeatedly are getting knocked out by the temporary inmates.
Has
anybody come up with a good solution to this problem from our end;
specialty
sprinkler guards or anything?

Thank you in advance,
