I still label them as up or down and then give centerline elevation of the pipe
on either side of the elbow to make it obvious which way the elbow is going for
those who are directionally challenged.

Subject: Elbow Up or Down ??

Forum,
It's Friday so forgive this question, what general rule of thumb do you use to
label elbows on your shop drawings as either UP or Down? What I like to do most
of the time is follow the flow of water from the main and let that dictate
whether to Label an elevation change as either up or down. Sometimes though say
on a secondary main that really has no flow direction what do you do there?
Left to right......?

Regards,
