Hello, Yesterday I visited a company in Germany. One building is sprinkler protected and approximately 70% of the roof is provided with smoke & heat vents. To avoid similar effects by simultaneous (automated) opening of heat & smoke vents, these vents should either be closed permanently, or be in closed position, while at the same time ensuring that operation is only manual (e.g. fire brigade override button/key), or delayed (e.g. fusible links for activation of vents at least 30 degrees higher than the rating of sprinkler links).
The plant manager told me German legislation (VdS?) changed the rules and demand the same temperature for sprinkler and vents, which I can not imagine.
