An automatic fire sprinkler system limited smoke and water damage inside
an apartment on the 4000 block of Moorpark Court in Sparks Sunday
morning, the Sparks Fire Department said.
A residence inside the Boulder Creek Apartments, 4005 Moorpark Court,
had minor smoke and water damage to the involved apartment and an
apartment below.
The sprinkler system extinguished the stove fire before a fire crew
arrived at 9:16 a.m.
There were no reported injuries to the apartment’s occupants or
responding firefighters.
The occupants had been cooking and a fire in a pan activated one
sprinkler head.
Damages are estimated at $3,000. Firefighters said the damage would have
been more extensive had the apartment not been equipped with automatic
fire sprinklers.
