UL Listed valves have steel pins while FM Approved ones are brass. Why does FM prefer the weaker metal? The steel ones will bend when over torque, showing incorrect orientation of the valve, while the brass will break, leaving the valve inoperable, but at least in correct orientation. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Forest Wilson Sent: Sunday, May 03, 2009 7:51 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Anyone from FM or UL want defective butterfly valves? We occasionally encounter a defective butterfly valve. Does anyone want them instead of us simply disposing of them? Sometimes they indicate open when partially or completely shut. If so, contact me off forum. Thanks.
