We have a client who wants to protect their wood frame pole barn. The
building is a storage facility for liquid Polyol (used with isocyanate to
create polyurethane). The Polyol is stored in 55 gallon metal drums and is
also stored in 275 gallon plastic totes that are in 4' square metal wire
baskets. The plastic totes are made from polyethylene approximately 1/8"
thick. From what I've been told, the Polyol itself is non-combustible and
doesn't pose much of a hazard. Based on this, I was thinking it should be a
class 2 commodity (non-combustible liquids in plastic containers larger than 5
gallons with a wall thickness less than 1/4"). Does anyone else have more
information on this product, or a different idea of what the commodity class
should be?
