I was told years ago by a member on the NFPA #13 committee that if the entire remote area encompassed the entire sloped area the intent of the code was met. I have personally lived by that and never had any issues with engineers or AHJ's. I will say that I am referring to smaller sloped areas, not areas that are 1,499 sq ft....most of the ones I have seen in this case are 1,000 or less.

Just a quick question:I have an area with a 3:12 pitch so I must increase design area 30%.Since this area is only 1,000 sq. ft. would it be necessary to have the revised area size spill over into non-sloped areas? Or technically, could it just apply to the sloped area only?I usually do it the former mentioned way but I have a job that is right on the edge with the calcs and I'm looking to see if this is an option.ThanksRalphy _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list http://lists.firesprinkler.org/mailman/listinfo/sprinklerforum For Technical Assistance, send an email to: [email protected] To Unsubscribe, send an email to:[email protected] (Put the word unsubscribe in the subject field) _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list http://lists.firesprinkler.org/mailman/listinfo/sprinklerforum For Technical Assistance, send an email to: [email protected] To Unsubscribe, send an email to:[email protected] (Put the word unsubscribe in the subject field)
