I am working on a project with a 14ft ceiling and a 16ft high bay area in the middle. The opening is 14ft wide, but the soffit walls are recessed back 1ft on each side, making the soffit ceiling 16ft wide. The sprinklers stradling the soffit are spaced 18 ft, so sprinklers will be required in the soffit. Question is 1 or 2. Should you space based on the opening or the wall to wall distance?
