The Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition has been working with the CBS Early Show and Danny Lipford to prepare a fire safety/fire sprinkler segment that will air this Wednesday, December 23rd, 7 to 9 a.m. This will be a live segment in a home in LaGrange Park, IL, with fire sprinklers protecting the living room. Two weeks ago, we taped a house fire without
sprinklers in Brentwood, TN. That tape will be shown first, then CBS will go live to demonstrate how sprinklers would have made a difference. In addition to his appearances on the CBS Early Show, Danny Lipford has a syndicated TV show called Today's Homeowner. Below is Danny Lipford's release about the segment. This story will also be posted on the CBS Early Show web site along with a link to HFSC's Web site. Please keep in mind that breaking news can affect the scheduling/airing of this story. Enjoy safe and happy holidays. HFSC > > Danny Lipford, host of the Emmy-nominated Today's Homeowner with Danny Lipford(r), will demonstrate the importance of holiday fire safety and residential sprinkler systems live from Chicago on The Early Show on CBS, December 23rd. > > In a taped segment, Lipford reports from an actual burning home in Brentwood, Tennessee, accompanied by the city's Fire Captain, David Windrow. Together, they create a situation common this time of year, a fire that starts from a candle that has been accidentally knocked over. Lipford and Windrow stay inside the burning home to show how quickly a fire can spread before they are forced to escape. The fire department is on hand to put out the blaze. > > Lipford will recreate the accident LIVE from a home in Chicago that has a sprinkler system to show how effectively the resulting fire can be contained. > > "This was one of the most exciting segments I've ever been involved with. What it taught me was respect, not only for what a fire can do, but also for the fire fighters who take on dangerous situations like this every day," said Lipford. > > Danny Lipford is the longtime home expert for The Early Show and has made over 120 live appearances. In addition, he is the host of the Emmy-nominated television show Today's Homeowner with Danny Lipford(r), now in its 12th season, and the syndicated radio show Homefront with Danny Lipford. A veteran remodeling contractor, Lipford is also the home expert for The Weather Channel and a contributing editor to Better Homes and Gardens magazine.
