I am working on a project where some roof drain pipes were installed below a row of sidewall sprinklers. They create an obstruction so the sprinklers need to be relocated. The drain pipes, with insulation are approximately 7" in diameter. The two are stacked on top of each other with a gap of approximately 1". The top of the top pipe is approximately 10", plus or minus 1" for pitch, from the ceiling. Everything is exposed and there is no plan to box anything in. My initial thought was to construct a facia board from the deck to the top of the drain pipes and create a soffit that way. The question was asked if the pipes themselves would create a de facto soffit without the need for the board. Any thoughts?
