The NJ Governor's Office released the report of the Red Tape Review Group on April 19th. The Red Tape Review Group, chaired by Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, presented its final report to Governor Chris Christie and released it to the public. In submitting the final report, Lt. Governor Guadagno said, ―This process clearly demonstrated that there is bipartisan agreement on the poor condition of New Jersey's regulatory climate and the need for action to cut through the red tape while maintaining a strong commitment to public health and safety.
Appendix G of the report is the Results of the 90-Day Review of Frozen Regulations. Relating to The proposal to adopt certain subcodes of the Uniform Construction Code, the report says, ―One of two new proposed provisions to the UCC is the requirement to install fire sprinklers in newly-constructed one- and two-family dwellings. The Department is strongly encouraged to ensure, consistent with the Notice of Adoption for this provision of the rule proposal, that this provision be revisited in the event that the State's economy has not recovered by the January, 2012, the effective date of this requirement. http://www.nj.gov/governor/news/news/552010/pdf/20100419_rtr_final_report.pd f.
