So if it is a wall, what is the T-rating question? NFPA 101 does not require a T-rating, only a 1-hour F-rating.
Some firestops can give you a T-rating with metallic pipe by using a wrap strip or other device, but usually it is only a 1/2 hour or sometimes 3/4 hour rating. . There may be a 1-hour T-rated firestop with metal pipe penetrant out there but how to find it. If you end up having to provide one the best bet is to contact a firestop mfr and see what they can provide. There aren't that many places that utilize fire-rated horizontal assemblies. Is that what you are penetrating? Don't need the T-rating for a regular fire-rated floor if the pipe is not in direct contact with combustibles. See 8.3.5.1.4 of NFPA 101 2009 edition. (Gov't project) They referenced the UFC 2-1.1 which then sends you to NFPA 101. Basically we need a T-rating of 1 hour. Has anyone had this before if so....which brand fire stop did you use?
