Take a look at Tyco's residential design guide, page 7 & 9. Page 9 shows the 
distance the sidewall sprinkler needs to be away from the peak as to minimize 
the obstruction caused by the slope. So, to answer your question I would say no 
to a single sprinkler at the peak, but there are other options.

I don't see anything specifically in 13D nor in manufacturer's literature but 
can a 13d sprink be installed AT THE RIDGE (picture a gable) spraying in the 
same direction as the ridge with the sloped ceiling running perpendicular?
