I'm trying to calculate the minimum flow of three 2.8K, quick response commercial sprinkler heads in a 240.14 sq/ft. living/dining room area for an apartment complex, within same small room compartment. Based on head to head spacing of [14.4.4.4.1] of NFPA 13 02' ed. these heads need to flow a minimum of 11.1 gpm.
Question: Due to the size of this area, can the code [8.6.2.1.2] be applied to determine the minimum flow discharge per sprinkler head by averaging the floor area of the room rather than using the rule of 14.4.4.4.1?
