Running as any capitalist country should-
The legislature represents those that get them re-elected.
That is a form of representative democracy, isn't it?

The sad part is that the committee effectively killed some of those living in
homes we would have sprinklered, but won't now, when they DO catch fire.

John Waters, co-chair of the PA residential Coalition, will have some
interesting observations t present Friday afternoon at the NFSA Convention in
Baltimore.
I've known John a long time- he's blunt. Kind of guy that walks into a seminar
area, sees the coffee table blocking an exit, looks around for a spare set of
hands to help him immediately move it from blocking the exit. Has beaten first
responding truck to a fire in a dumpster and suppressed it with a FE. The man
lives his work.

It is ironic that the NFSA convention is in the same hotel where we had happier
times at the IRC vote there 2 years ago. John and Tim Knisely, co-chairs of the
PA Resi Spkr Coalition, will be receiving the
NFSA's Leadership and Public Safety Award; Don Konkle, who has also poured
heart and soul into the battle with the PBA, had a schedule conflict and won't
be able to attend. There are numerous others including Aus Marberger and Ray
Lonabaugh, Mark Singel, who also worked hard at making it stick; I won't be
able to name them all.

John Waters is chief fire marshal, Upper Merion Twp (King of Prussia, resi
ordinance in 1988)
Tim Knisely is sr residential inspector, Centre Region Code (State College,
home of PSU's Nittany Lions)
(Tim recently stepped down as co-chair, replaced by Larry Christy)
Don Konkle is head of PFESI and former Harrisburg fire chief, instrumental in
getting first high-rise retrofit law in PA after First Interstate and Meridian.

More irony was the night after the PA House voted to repeal sprinklers, 7 kids
died in a fire 25 miles from the Capitol. Today the Senate took the first step
toward repealing it. Two days later we honor the guys that got us this far, but
were no match for financial impact on legislators, now saying thank you to the
PBA.

It's a great country- if you have money.
