Does the owner want to pay for the system? (have money for the system?)

Subject: Pond Water - Chlorine Injection into underground fire line

The water source for this wet pipe sprinkler system comes from a membrane
lined pond.
Filtration screens will be at the fire line intake at the pond.
The civil engineer is requesting that a chlorine injection system be
installed in the suction line from the pond to the fire pump.
The reason stated for this is to keep the algae at bay.
I explained that the system will become anoxic over time because of the
static nature of the system.
My question - Is this required or even necessary? I find no reference in
NFPA or FM literature.
Will chlorine have an effect on system piping, fittings or sprinklers over
an extended period.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ed Cyr
