What Mark said and to add, the horizontal exit is/are just regular doors as you state. Meaning they are doors in which you walk through. However they are fire rated doors and not just "regular doors".

When one of these type buildings is required to have a horizontal standpipe, the code requires a valve on both sides of fire doors communicating between the two adjacent fire areas. In effect these doors allow one to "exit" one fire area, while "entering" the adjacent fire area. The valve on both sides allows the firefighter to enter the adjacent fire area with a charged hose line. "On each side of the wall" - does this mean from the inside of a building you see two hose connections: one on the left of the door and one on the right? Or does this mean one on the inside of the building and one on the outside? Thanks - I'm a little confused... -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
