2010 ed. of the standard, 17.3.1.1 sez that Group A in cartons (presuming this includes expanded and unexpanded) shall be protected per Table 17.3.1.1 and with in-rack sprinklers per the Figures 17.3.1.2(a) or (b). Then you read on to 17.3.4.1.4, which is singe-row and double-row in-rack sprinkler criteria, and it gives you a direct prescriptive per Figure 17.3.4.1.4 (albeit with only the higher roof density of the two to choose from in Table 17.3.1.1), which appears to be a way simpler in-rack arrangement, without face sprinklers. What am I not understanding and which one precedes (or supersedes) the other?
