The closest criteria is 20.6 for Class III commodities (for folders and Misc storage though I only remember the folders) and treated as a Light Hazard occupancy classification. If memory serves me right, some of the testing took like 40 minutes before activation of the sprinkler. The folders were still fairly tight with minimal excess room so the fire spread was very slow. The metal barriers should be noted along with the max area of 250 sf (as measured between longitudinal barriers). Look at the ROP and ROC for 2010 ed (found on the NFPA website under the list of standards)

Good Morning!

There is a thread concerning this issue from 2008 with some reference to
upcoming documentation, but I do not know where it exists..

We have a military facility with the rolling storage cabinets with large
compartments for storing "gear" - "gear" varies greatly.

It is only about 7' tall and there is more than 18" clearance from the top of the cabinets to the sprinklers. Currently, there is about 14' clearance and the bldg is designed for OH2, this storage is only about 10% of the entire bldg footprint. Now they are building a mezzanine over the cabinets and there will be about 3' of clearance. I guess the reationale would be
that the OH2 should still be sufficient?

Thanks,
