Charles,

Here in SE Florida we replace anything out side near the water after 3-5
years...they just rot away. The best I have seen are some of the Poly Coated
Coro Resistant heads. I have seen them last 10 years or more. Wax over lead is
for ever unless the wax gets scratched then it's over fairly quickly.

One good Tropical Storm or Hurricane with the Salt Spray gets everything
outside with in 10 miles of the coast...otherwise we see normal wear 5 miles or
more inland. Less that 3-5 miles they go fast unless they are coro resistant or
wax coated.

Now if you have a client with deep pockets you can get stainless steel and
never replace them!!

Subject: Exposed Heads

Hello Sprinklerforum,

We have a big problem with sprinkler heads outside and corrosion. I am
looking for suggestions on head finishes that will last for 10 years oceanfront
and first row. wax over lead has been suggested as best for the area, Only
problem is that are standard response, Not too good to replace existing quick
response heads.  Any luck with concealed heads?
