In the early sixties Pyrotronics (Now Siemens Industry/Fire Safety)
manufactured Pyr-A-Larm High Voltage (220VDC) fire alarm systems (FIU-2,
FIU-6) that utilized a variety of initiating devices including but not
limited to Ionization Detectors using cold cathode tubes (F-5B, F-3/5A).
While manufacturing has long ceased many of these systems are still in
service today with a variety of aftermarket vendors supporting them.
Google those model numbers and they can still be found.

While were on the topic of legacy stuff, Pyrotronics System-3 (circa
1970's) is still in production. This manufacturer was akin to western
electric and manufactured robust fire protection products, the longevity
is a testament to a bygone era.

Wow, I thought seeing the last 120 vac relay based fire alarm panel
leave town was a look into the past.

They are only rebuilding nukes at this facility so why upgrade???? lol.
The DOE has a lot of antique systems that are still going strong. At the
DOE facility I spent time at, we had deluge systems with 220vdc
detection systems
