I am looking at a job with a space that is protected by dry pendent being fed from an unheated attic. Ceilings vary, but in the area in question are at 18'-3". Within this space they are adding 6 rooms roughly 10 x 10 with 8 ft ceilings. Walls and ceilings in the new room are 5/8 firecode sheetrock. Doors are rated, but not self closing (cannot be made self closing due to state regs). The plan is to feed sprinklers for the new rooms from an existing wet main in the adjacent hallway; one sidewall sprinkler per room. I want to use the room design method for hydraulic calculations. However, I have never run into a situation where a calculation for a single design area encompasses 2 systems, let alone one wet and one dry. Am I correct that the calcs need to include two heads from the dry system for the sprinklers in the communicating spaces? Of course there are no plans an the dry system piping is above sheetrock without access. BTW, there is 105 psi at the riser and we are about 50 ft away, so water is not an issue.
