I think I may have brought this up before, but, once upon a time the
buildings where the college is housed where under the jurisdiction of the
State FM because it was included in K-12 instead of higher education (not
in FM's bag). At that time someone in that office decided, much like the
plague of locust that descended up us a couple years back where all the FMs
want single heads in kitchens off the plumbing, that anywhere paper was
passed between administration and students needed protection. I've seen an
elementary school with two heads over a counter with six spare heads in a
Ziploc bag tied to the pipe with a tie wrap. Here there are currently four
residential Omegas in a counselor's office that used to be financial aid
and form a "water curtain" over the pass through window that is no longer
there. There are seven more making another "water curtain" at the doorway
that used to be student services. During a remodel I suggested that these
voluntary sprinklers and there associated plumbing piping be removed. The
Facilities Director told me that the Tacoma Fire Marshal told him they
couldn't be removed. Now I know that the FM never discussed this with our
facilities guys because I asked him while we bending an elbow together.
That was at least ten years ago, new FM, same Facilities Director, same
Omegas.
