I looked through the archive, but I could not find any definitive answers on this:
I have a building protected to 13 (not 13R) that has small (200 cubic foot) mechanical closets that are packed full of HVAC equipment. Is there any guidance in the codes or printed references that discuss allowances for obstructions in small closets for 13 systems? I am familiar with the 400 cubic foot allowance in 13R, but it still seems like it would be unreasonable to have 3 or 4 sprinklers in these very small spaces.
