Thanks Jim.
I won't quote the numbers of the case we recently heard about-- the
sprinklers were way up there, under a metal deck, non-conditioned space, hot
day, no pressure relief-- but I was pretty astounded at the increase in
pressure above normal city static.

Thanks Peter.

I just wanted to say that if contractor's start venting practices on
existing systems, through remote Insp. Test. Conn., aux. drains, ect, for
piping in areas subject to high ambient temperature, it would be a good idea
to make sure there is a 1/2" pressure relief valve. The 'air cushion idea'
is not a myth!!

It should be in the 2016 edition unless someone successfully appeals to the
Standards Council and they overturn the floor action (highly unlikely)

Am I understanding correctly that air venting will be required 13-2016?

There was a motion to NOT require it, but that motion failed, right?

thanks,
