You can bring 3-4 specific books, the test is based on a relatively recent edition, most are 2013 right now. Other items from other standards appear onscreen as excerpts. I would tend to agree that dots and bars are superfluous, especially now that they're keeping the tests reasonably up to date. They've done a much better job keeping things current since transitioning to CBT. Speaking only for the development groups I've worked with, we generally avoided version specific gotchas.

The last time I had to lug a couple dollys full of Standards to the test was 1987. At that time all the questions were based on specific editions-- is that not still the case? -- and if so, wouldn't bars and dots be superfluous? It is the same with real projects-- one and only one edition is used in its entirety, unless otherwise acceptable to the AHJ. My preference is when the AHJ let's me use the latest and I don't know see or care dots from bars ;) brad, afsa designer member, and nicet eye vee On Nov 20, 2015 6:20 AM, "Jessica Lutz" <[email protected]> wrote: > I am also not pleased to hear about the omission of the dots and > bars...for the same reasons already stated. > I prefer using the paper NFPA's in addition to digital pdf versions...you > can't bring digital versions to NICET testing. > > > Jessica Lutz > Fire Protection Designer, NICET III > J.C.
