I need to provide protection for a waste chute in a high rise building
that has 11 stories of parking garage below 35 stories of residential
apartments. The apartment floor levels will have service openings for the
trash but there will be no openings through the parking levels. Just the
chute encased in a block shaft for the parking levels. Does sprinkler
protection need to be provided on the parking levels for the chute? If
so, how would one access the rated chute enclosure later on to inspect /
service the heads?
