I thought I knew the answer to this one, but now having second thoughts
21'-6" to roof deck, Light Hazard, 38" wide soffit along a wall @ 8'-2" above the floor. Do we need sprinklers under the soffit? 1st thought was no, because it is less than 48" wide, but then looking @ NFPA #13 - 2016, 8.6.5.1 and 8.6.5.2, it looks like we "will need" heads under the soffit. It is not like something 38" wide sitting out in the middle of a room where a pattern could develop around the obstruction from different areas. The edge of this soffit goes to the roof deck, so no pattern can develop around it. Thoughts? Greg Lindholm
