I am an AHJ so I came across this yesterday during a final inspection. Last I heard (and that was a few years ago), there was not a listed head guard for residential heads. I am dealing with a four story townhome in which there is a decent size, seven foot tall storage room as well as a large recreational room. The contractor has installed head guards in these areas to protect the heads from damage and/ or inadvertent activation which has happened frequently in these types of rooms in other neighborhoods. Contractor is unable to provide any data on the head guard itself. I think this is a well- intentioned installation, provided there is listed head guard for residential heads.
