Could this ever be dangerous, if water started to boil inside the pipes? You mentioned the oven will be at 270°F and the heads will probably be 360°F. At 270°F, water would boil below a gauge pressure of about 27.3 PSI. If the oven ever ran away and got hotter than anticipated, or had "hot spots", which is common, it could get up to 360°F before the heads go off, and water would boil at any gauge pressure below about 135 PSI. It seems like when the water starts to boil, it would raise the pressure in the piping, and probably raise it to a point where it wouldn't boil any longer. If we had water in piping at 60 PSI and heated it up to 360°F, what would happen? I definitely wouldn't want a pipe bomb situation, but I'm not sure that would happen. Just something I've been curious about before, and I'm eager to hear what other people think, especially if anyone has tried it - in a safe environment, of course. I always made sure the riser had a pressure relief valve on it for any ovens we have done (it is common for them not to, since we are usually adding these on to existing systems), because I always figured it could only help in this situation - kind of like how they do on water heaters as a safety device so they don't explode through your roof.
