I wanted to get input on the remote area for the following design. The
system has two mains connected on the end of the building near the riser.
The result is an end feed tree system. I want to verify I am applying
23.4.4.2.3 correctly.

Hazard: OH II .2/1500 + >2:12 roof slope = .20 gpm /1950 sq ft.

23.4.4.2.3 In systems having branch lines with an insufficient

number of sprinklers to fulfill the 1.2 requirement, the design

area shall be extended to include sprinklers on adjacent

branch lines supplied by the same cross main.

Building Width is less than 1.2 x sq. root of 1950. However, if I am
reading 23.4.4.2.3 correctly I stop my remote area at the 3rd (near the
peak) and not include the two sprinkler supplied by the far main due to
23.4.4.2.3. The space is 10x10 on the sprinklers so my remote area is 30'
(up the peak) x 65' (back towards the riser. I will also do a second calc
for the far main with 2 heads (20') up the peak and 97' back towards the
riser to verify I can have smaller main size. My concern is the meaning of
"insufficient" and the fact if the water was better I would install 1 main
and end feed all (5) heads resulting in a traditional remote area shape.

Thanks,
