I don’t recommend to leave exhaust near people that can be affected by CO gases. As this is an emergency equipment we cant treat it as a car running, but also also this is not a car, this is like truck running. Also NFPA 20 states:
In the other extreme, there are codes with too much restrictions. For example the code in my country (Perú), require exhaust to be delivered to the roof of the building, so in some cases it is hundreds of feet. To do so, we have to use the software of the motor supplier to find the appropriate diameter for the exhaust. I think there is no restriction on length of the exhaust if you respect the diameter from the calculation of “Exhaust Backpressure”. As most of the motors at present time are made by Clarke, you can follow their online software to do so. Discharging exhaust into a parking basement would need to be approved by a building code official since this could pose a hazard to people who might be in the parking area if the pump were running. You also need to speak to the pump manufacturer about the length of the exhaust because excess length affects pump performance. The ventilation system may not be suitable for moving diesel exhaust. The space of basement outside the pump room is for parking. Read 11.5 of NFPA 20:2019 and I design to select the exhaust discharge location just outside the pump room, and inside the parking basement. The basement have its dedicated auto operated ventilation system. Is my design not wrong to NFPA? Thanks.
