I would recommend the 4K set over the tablet.
You can actually get a large “touch screen” TV, but I prefer the mouse or track
ball.
I would also recommend that the TV not be oversized. I have used 55” and 40”
4K sets for this purpose and actually think the 40” works better.

Be sure the computer has robust graphics, capable of handling panning and
zooming on large files without too much of a time delay.

Subject: Tablet or 4K monitor for viewing PDFs?

We usually print hard copies of plans for larger projects for referencing when
designing fire protection and are looking into electronic alternatives such as
either higher resolution (4k) monitors or possibly a larger tablet dedicated
for this use. Does anyone have any recommendations or want to share their
experiences?

The end goal is to avoid tedious panning and zooming around plans on standard
sized monitors on lower resolutions and to save on printing costs. We'd like to
be able to get as much of the plans up on the screen as possible and still be
legible. Also, there seems to be quite a price difference between a 4K TV and a
4K monitor - would there be any benefit to using one over the other?
