From NFPA13, 2019 edition, table 20.14.2.2.3, it looks like maximum storage height is 35-feet in a 40-foot high building.
If I am correct reading this, then they will have to Install a ceiling and you will have to redesign the system. Another alternative is to lower the storage to 6-feet which is probably not feasible.
