I think FM 8-9 has some info on the vertical alignment of the face sprinklers.
You might check in there.

It's my understanding the whole purpose of the face sprinkler is to prevent
fire from jumping across the aisle. So and obstruction to that is not a good
thing.

Subject: [Sprinklerforum] In-Rack Sprinkler Locations

General question we have been discussing in the office is the location of the
face sprinkler in the racking. We know it has to be at least 18" from the
aisle, the question that has arisen is can the face sprinkler deflector be
located above the bottom of the rack beam. Does it need to spray out into the
aisle or just onto the product?

Can't find any guidance in NFPA #13 (2013, 2016, 2019 or 2022) unless we are
missing it.

Any input from minds greater than mine on a friday.

Thanks
