When I have come across it – it usually means what ever sort of standpipe
connection the FD is ok with. We have done 1 outlet and 2 outlet types.

Subject: [Sprinklerforum] Roof Hydrant

I am working on an existing 4 story building which is being retrofitted with a
Class III standpipe system. We have been told that a ”roof hydrant” is
required. I have not seen anything in 14 (2013 is what this jurisdiction is
using) that specifically mentions a roof hydrant. Section 7.3.2 talks about a
hose valve on the roof, which I assume is a single valve. I couldn’t find
anything that requires any more, although there are a lot of images that show 2
or 3 outlets. What am I missing?
