Working on a building where the floor level is an open parking garage (large wide openings meeting the classification of "open parking garage" per MA. Bldg. Code) The upper level is an assembly space. MA. Bldg. Code doesn't require an Open Parking Garage to have automatic sprinkler system. Fire Prot. Engineer says that there needs to be a fire rating of the ceiling between the parking garage and the assembly space to eliminate the sprinkler system.
