Have you looked at the sprinkler obstruction rules in NFPA 13?  Just because an 
object is over 48” wide, doesn’t automatically mean there needs to be a 
sprinkler below it unless it creates an obstruction to sprinkler discharge.

There isn’t anything in NFPA standards regarding sound waves and sprinklers.  
If the sound waves were intense enough to affect a sprinkler, they will have a 
potential destructive effect on everything within the room to some degree.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Sprinklerforum] Subwoofer Obstruction

We are installing a sprinkler system in a dance hall. There are several large 
subwoofers (5' x 5') installed at the ceiling. Since they are over 48", we need 
to install a sprinkler head underneath/adjacent to the obstruction. Is there 
any guidance for the distance away the sprinkler head should be from the 
subwoofer to prevent the sound waves from rattling and damaging the sprinkler 
head?
