Of course: "Preferences" > "Console" and "Preferences" > "Editor" to
change options like font style.

Again in "Preferences" > "Console": click on tab "External modules"
and change the IPython command line options.
The namespace pollution you are referring to is due to the 'pylab'
option - removing it should help.
