Unfortunately, in Spyder v2.0, this is not possible right now. I sometimes miss this feature too but this is a compromise: version 2.0's console is safer (external process) but less interactive (Matplotlib figures are no longer dockable in Spyder's main window because it's not trivial to embed a widget which was created in another process).
