I looked at the warning message as well as my Spyder configuration. The puzzling thing is: the warning message may be misleading and unnecessary. I checked, and I have spyder_kernels 2.0.1 installed. The requirement is that the installed version needs to be greater than or equal to 2.01 and less than or equal to 2.1.0 — which mine is. So why issue a warning message?
Also, there is no clear guidance about how to install spyder_kernels. I could try rolling back to an earlier version of Spyder, but at the moment, that does not seem to be absolutely necessary. I think that the warning message was incorrectly triggered.
