If you are running Spyder from the Windows installers currently they use 
Python 3.8 (3.8.10 to be exact) for the default interpreter. Also, I think 
when using the macOS installers is Python 3.9. Also, just in case, you can 
create a Python environment with the Python version you would like to 
use and set is as a custom interpreter. For more info about that you can
