We have the same need. Here's what I did:
- generate invoices for the month.
- run a sql statement to update invoice notes field on all
invoices with today's date, putting in the "For service
period starting ..." info specific to the invoicing period.
I originally wanted to put the date info in the line items, but
the above approach was much simpler. So line items would say
Basic Hosting (example.com) EA 3 $10.00
and then the notes field defines the service start date. This
way I avoid having to calculate service end dates, which vary
based on billing term customer has selected.
