Do you have reliable data connections to each site?  If so then just 
share a common database - then the information is already rolled up to 
corporate.  What about Slony, or similar database replication?  When you 
sync the databases your changes could be rolled up.

Not sure what you're looking to do with barcodes...  Just about every 
thing we print out (of SQL-Ledger) has a barcode on it.  We print on 
both 8 1/2x11" paper and labels (4x8" and 4x2").
