Tim Out of the box, SQL-L is designed for a "company" structure. You can get it to work perfectly well for other business types including partnerships, trusts, and solo proprietors. But you do need to carefully plan your chart of accounts. Same applies to an unincorporated association, which are commonly used by Not-For-Profit organisations. For some organisation types (especially partnerships and some trusts) you must enter you own end-of-year journal to allocate the retained earnings (or losses) manually. The usual SQL-L end of year routine can only accumulate profits/losses to a single account in the equity section of your Balance Sheet. As for your donors, you could easily track them as customers. Alternatively, you could track the donors as separate accounts within your chart of accounts. Depends upon your needs. In summary, Yes, SQL-L can be used very successfully with NFP's. Hope this helps. - David J
