Hi there,

I have a number of customers I bill periodically - they call me on a
casual basis, ask me to do some work for them (which may only
constitute 15 minutes or an hour) and I make a note of the visit in
my diary, billing them every month or two, when they've built up a
debt worth billing for.

It was my understanding that SL's "projects" facility could do this
"diarying" for me - I expected to be able to open a project for Foo
Co., call it "Fourth Quarter 2006" and just enter line items by part
number & quantity into the project. Item notes would also be
immensely useful, so I could say for instance: "Delivery date:
21/11/2006. Part: LAB001. Description: Labour, 1 hour. Qty: 2. Notes:
replacing roof tiles & guttering following storm." When I get around
to invoicing 10 hours of work at the end of the month or quarter I
expected to be able to just dump all these items into an AR > Sales
Invoice.

However I have tried this on the demo installations of SL & they do
not appear to behave as I expected. [1] What am I missing, please?

Is there any other way to do the sort of thing I describe?

Basically I want to add items to different invoices over a period of
weeks, keeping some open whilst others are closed & posted.

Stroller.
