Check your logs, password and shadow files, change user and root passwords 
and change sql-ledger to run behind ssl for minimum measures. Chances are 
your system has been compromised if you have password/authenication errors 
like this. If you have been compromised, thanks your lucky stars it wasn't 
by someone sophisticated enough to cover their tracks very well.
