When I do that, it requires I enter a part number. If I don't, ir takes me to 
"Add Part."

"Add Part" allows me to enter it into any class of inventory. It doesn't make 
sense to record my desk, chair or postage-stamps as inventory. I don't sell 
those things.

Assets are a problem, but so are consumables such as paper, envelopes, postage 
stamps. And services such as freight.

How are people recording goods (and services) they buy and which are not for 
sale?
